In 1970, Hawai’i became the first state in the Union to allow abortion at the request of a woman. Since that time, the UH faculty has been a significant provider of abortion care. In 2006, we furthered our commitment to providing evidence-based family planning and abortion services through the successful implementation of our Kenneth J. Ryan Residency Training Program. In 2012 we were proud to become the 25th Family Planning Fellowship site.

On this site you will find information and opportunities for medical students, residents, and fellows interested in family planning training at JABSOM Department of Ob-Gyn, as well as information about our faculty. We also have a variety of research and internship for undergraduate and graduate students interested in family planning.
