Undergraduate and Graduate Student Internship

Health Science Student Internship/Field Studies/Practicum

  • Undergraduate, post-baccalaureate, and graduate student interns are invited to apply year-round for a position in our field studies program. Students will work with a preceptor and other division faculty to develop and implement a comprehensive intervention related to the family planning needs of our local patient population. Projects could include comprehensive contraception education for adolescent patients, study coordination and subject recruitment for clinical research, or institutional or public health policy and protocol development. The student will be mentored in conducting appropriate literature reviews, applying health promotion and educational theories, and in devising goals, objectives, and evaluation mechanisms. The field studies program will be modified to meet any specific requirements from the student’s home institution regarding the content and structure of their internship program.

Students interested in a field studies placement should contact Mary at mtschann@hawaii.edu
